The Work

Through ceramics, mixed media, drawing, painting, and small creative studies, each piece becomes an opportunity to explore color, material, memory, and place.

Ceramics

Horsehair ceramics

Horsehair ceramics are created through a smoke-firing process in which horsehair is placed on a hot, burnished clay surface. The hair burns immediately, leaving dark carbon markings that cannot be repeated exactly.

Each vessel develops its own pattern through heat, smoke, timing, and movement. The result is an individual piece marked by organic lines, subtle variation, and the visible history of its firing.

This work is part of an ongoing personal practice shaped by respect for ceramic traditions, contemporary makers, and the expressive possibilities of clay.

Made Slowly

Creative work rooted in material and place

01

Observation

Ideas begin with the textures, colors, plants, weather, and landscapes that make a place feel distinct.

02

Material

Clay, pigment, line, image, and found visual references each bring their own limitations and possibilities to the work.

03

Variation

Small changes in process become part of the finished piece, making every work naturally individual.

About the Artist

Art shaped by landscape, curiosity, and care.

True Nature Art grew from a lifelong curiosity about color, texture, form, and the natural world. As a self-taught artist, the work has developed through observation, experimentation, and a deep appreciation for the places that continue to inspire it.

Moving from Colorado to Arizona brought a new visual language into focus: rust-red stone, open desert horizons, changing light, weathered surfaces, and the quiet drama of the Southwest. Those experiences continue to influence the ceramics, visual studies, and creative projects found here.

Each piece is made as an individual exploration of material and place, with room for variation, imperfection, and the unexpected marks that make handmade work distinct.
